Activity: Consult Stakeholders, Peers, Industry bodies, Associations and NGOs

Objective

This activity is about reaching out to external parties and getting their feedback on your approach. Engaging with your stakeholders and affected NGOs early on in the process will help in developing a solution that will hopefully make all parties happy. Working with your peers, industry bodies and associations will help in looking for ways this has been done before, successful best in class examples.

Tasks

Network with related trade and industry working groups

Objective: Chances are someone in your industry has come across your issue before and has worked out ways to address the problem. By collaborating with peer companies in defined working groups on the issue the collective mind may be able to come up with the best solution. There is also PR benefits from cross collaborating as customers believe this to a more transparent way to deal with problems.

Work with NGOs related to the issue

Objective: Involving NGOs early on in the project can contribute to the effectiveness of the project by introducing innovative approaches and promoting community participation. NGOs can help expand project uptake and reach, and can facilitate greater awareness of diverse stakeholder views.

Input:

  • Organization unwilling to share information with external stakeholders.
  • The selection of an NGO should go through a proper process to ensure credibility to the partnership.
